About the event
The *INAUGURAL CONCERT* of "London Obbligato Collective", a newly formed period-instrument chamber ensemble established by the London-based harpsichordist Masumi Yamamoto.
The ensemble focuses on the unique genre of the "Accompanied Harpsichord Sonatas", an exciting body of repertoire in which the harpsichord is promoted from its traditional role of accompanying to the solo role within the trio sonata texture. In this special genre, not only is the harpsichord given a place to shine, but colours and nuances of the harpsichord are effectively supported, highlighted and enhanced by the richness of the accompanying instruments. This makes this special genre a bridge between the solo sonata, which was considered music for the home, and larger orchestral works.
This concert will includes music for 2 to 4 musicians, and features composers including Charles Avison, John Garth, Felice Giardini, Carl Friedrich Abel and Johann Christian Bach.
